The World’s Largest Nordic Food Festival Pops Up in Los Angeles

För ett tag sedan var det nordisk matfestival i New York.  I New York besöktes festivalen av ca; 4000 besökare och 200 journalister. Nu är det snart Los Angeles tur att få prova på den nordiska matkulturen. Den 20, 21 och 28 oktober är det dags för den allra första NORTH Pop Up Festival i Los Angeles. Pop up eventet är mindre än festivalen i New York sker i samarbete med det nordiska livsstils showroomet Austere. Roligt att den nordiska matkulturen får lite international uppmärksamhet tycker jag.

Nordic chefs and personalities recently wowed New York foodies at the annual NORTH Nordic Food Festival. Through over 40 events, visited by some 4,000 New Yorkers and 200 journalists, ranging from pop up dinners to street food fests and cooking classes - The Big Apple was taken over by more than 30 Nordic chefs who demonstrated why Nordic cuisine has been called “the most influential culinary movement since the 1960’s”. And this fall, it is Los Angeles’ turn to experience Nordic cuisine first hand at the first ever NORTH Pop Up Festival on October 20th, 21st and 28th.

While the New York festival spans several locations and multiple events daily, NORTH Los Angeles is a smaller and more intimate series of exclusive events. Through a collaboration with Nordic lifestyle showroom Austere in Downtown Los Angeles - NORTH LA pop up events will be exclusively held at the sleek 5,000 sq ft designer space where several of the most famous fashion and interior designers from Scandinavia are featured.

   NORTH Los Angeles will pay host to three intimate dinner events at Austere, of which two will be invite only and open to media and industry. The first dinner happens on October 20th, when Michelin starred chefs Anton Bjuhr and Jacob Holmstrom of the celebrated Gastrologik Restaurant in Stockholm will take invited press and VIP’s on an exciting tasting through the creativity of Stockholm. The evening after, on Oct 22nd, the space opens up to the public for a lavish fifteen course dinner with limited tickets available. Merging music and food and seating less than 30 people, it will be one of the most exclusive dining experiences in Los Angeles this year.

   The final event of this boutique festival happens on October 28th, when local chefs will work exclusively with Norwegian seafood - exploring the culinary bounty of the cold North Atlantic and Norwegian fjords. Preceding the seafood tasting, guests will be taken on a tour of the exciting Norwegian Icons design project by Austere Showroom founder Fredrik Carlström, who will talk about the process of finding long lost design treasures in Norway and bring them to life in a contemporary setting. This event is invite only.

The Sheboygan

I lördagskväll besökte vi Sorbon i Bromma och testade menyn nu när de har Amerikanska veckor där. Jag valde No bean chili och min man tog en Shebogan (hamburgare). Riktigt trevligt och god mat som vanligt. 

This Saturday we visited a restaurant called Sorbon and tried out the menu now that they are having their American weeks. I choosed the No bean chili and my husband choosed a burger called The Sheybogan. It was a really nice night and the food was great as always.

Yummy!

Det bjöds på massor av smarrigt på No7 eventet på Café Opera i onsdags. I drinkväg så höll jag mig till klassikerna Cosmopolitan som var helt ljuvlig.

The good and drinks at the No7 event at Café Opera was yummy. As for drinks I choose a classic - Cosmopolitan. They where fantastic.

Ligger hemma i feber och vi hade inget hemma för mig att äta till lunch så idag beställde jag en Ceasar sallad via Onlinepizza.se. Fick en lite Miso soppa också. Perfekt att få maten leverade ända till dörren då man är sjuk.

I'm at home with a fever and we had nothing home for me to eat so I ordered home. Perfect when you are sick.

Busy weekend

Har varit upptagen hela helgen. Igår kom en äldre släkting till min man på besök så vi var och åt en smaskig middag på Stockholm Fisk med henne, riktigt trevligt.

Nu är det iallafall dags att sova, trött som bara den!

Have been busy all weekend. Yesterday an older relative of my husband came to visit and we took her out for dinner at Stockholm Fisk. It was a nice day and the dinner was delicious.

Well now it's time for bed. I'm really tired!

Om ni besöker Wien någon gång kan jag helt klart rekommendera ett besök på Nachtmarkt som är en gata som helt består av restauranger och matmarknad och på lördag eller söndag, minns inte villket, så är det även en gigantisk loppmarknad där som är riktigt rolig. Vissa av försäljarna har lagt upp sina saker superfint och tar till och med kort medans andra bara hällt ut det som de har till försäljning i en hög på parkeringsplatsen. Här kan du verkligen hitta allt! Även en hel del mer turistanpassade marknadsstånd som säljer fake Ed Hardy kläder m.m.

Nu ska jag gå och se hur det går för min man att rengöra avloppet.
